evaluation of immune status to measles in vaccinated population in tehran, by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and the hemagglutination inhibition techniques (1386-1387)
نویسندگان
چکیده
background and aims: measles remains one of the leading causes of childhood morbidity and mortality in developing countries and is still a major public health concern in developed countries. although live attenuated vaccine is used throughout the world, out breaks of disease still occur in many countries including iran. methods: the present study was performed to evaluate the immune status against measles after the mass campaign vaccination in 2003. results: in this study, approximately 172 sera were analysed by elisa and hi tests. the results indicated, 162 were positive (94.2%) and 10 were negative (5.8%) by hi test and 165 were positive (95.5%) and 7 were negative (4.1%) by the elisa test. conclusion: understanding measles outbreaks that occur after the initiation of measles elimination efforts will be critical in refining the strategies for measles elimination.

متن کاملComparison of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, hemagglutination inhibition, and passive latex agglutination for determination of rubella immune status.
Hemagglutination inhibition, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and passive latex agglutination were used to test 495 human serum samples for determination of rubella immunity. Overall agreements for immune status were as follows: hemagglutination inhibition versus ELISA, 94.7% (469 of 495); hemagglutination inhibition versus passive latex agglutination (1:10 dilution), 99.2% (491 of 49...
متن کاملComparison of measles antihemolysin test, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and hemagglutination inhibition test with neutralization test for determination of immune status.
Sera were collected from 238 high-school students in Prince Edward Island for the determination of immune status before an anticipated measles outbreak. In addition, history of vaccination status and measles infection was obtained. In the subsequent outbreak, 28 students did contract measles. Specificity for hemagglutination inhibition (HI), antihemolysin (AH), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent a...
متن کاملComparison of hemagglutination inhibition test and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for determining antibody to rubella virus.
The hemagglutination inhibition test (HAI) and the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for detecting antibody to rubella virus were compared by testing 25 sets of paired sera taken before and after infection and 10 sets of sera taken during acute and convalescent stages of the disease and by screening 700 serum samples from the Collaborative Perinatal Project, NIH/NINCDS. The tests were f...
